The Health Equity Fund is a historic collaboration designed to address root causes of disparities and advance economic mobility for under-resourced residents in the District.
Directing Resources to High-Need Areas
Current funding patterns show a heavy concentration on established health systems. While Public Health receives $223.7M, targeted Health Equity initiatives—which address the 80% of health outcomes driven by social and economic factors—require more balanced support. Currently, 63% of our health equity grants are directed to Wards 7 and 8 to bridge the life expectancy gap.
